Most of the veils are white and red in colour, 2 are black, some of them blue. With one exception they are deposited in the storage room. There are no photographs. The example Nr. 32, with a date, was published by Fritz Witte (see list of literature).

Origin and date of the above list were taken from the inventory of the collection, but the information of the provenance is not always very definite. The analysis of the vestments showed that in many cases the place of preservation was taken as place of origin. In the 1920s when the collection was inventorised, many accessories of vestments were studied isolated. The chalice veils of the Schnuetgen Museum were at that time integrated into the great complex of medieval and modern embroideries in order to document the development of european embroidery.

Question: are there any sources indicating that chalice veils have been given for a determined priest?
