Deadline June 30th, 2018 - Wool Innovation Prize.
The Wool Innovation Prize is to be offered
annually to any individual who shows the most
innovative use of wool in any commercially viable
application. A prize of up to £10,000 will be
awarded together with a merit certificate to the
winner The winner will be announced at the end of
September every year. The prize is being awarded
by the Worshipful
Company of Woolmen and the Company of the
Merchants of the Staple of England Charitable
Trust. The
winner will need to be able to show that the
innovation will be developed from the United
Kingdom, although the nationality of the

LOEWE Foundation launches the second edition of
the LOEWE Craft Prize, an annual international
award celebrating excellent in craftsmanship. The
Prize for the winning entry is 50.000. The

Panel will be included in an exhibition and
accompanying catalogue on view in London in

sorgfältig ausgewählten Zooms schafft der klare
und luftige Satz Tatsachen und demonstriert auch
gestalterisch die Wandelbarkeit von Papier, das

The Textile Society of America (TSA) is
instituting a new program to recognize and
honor individuals who have over the course
of their careers, made path-breaking
contributions to the field, in textile
scholarship, education, art, or in sustaining
textile arts globally. In this context the

experienced a significant increase in
appreciation over the last decades, both in
the visual arts and the academic world, largely
due to the creative and exacting leadership

Following
the success and great critical acclaim of its
first year, Visual Arts Scotland are
delighted to announce the return of our
major prize for woven tapestry, g
enerously donated by the Cordis Trust.
The submission, open to professional
tapestry artists worldwide is for a
large tapestry, hand woven by the artist within
the last five years. There is a prize of
£5000. A shortlist will be drawn up by
our prestigious panel of guest selectors with
specialist knowledge of woven tapestry; Alison
Watt, Linda Green, and Fiona Mathison, along with
Miranda Harvey of the Cordis Trust and VAS
President Robbie Bushe.
The shortlisted entries will be exhibited
as part of our annual exhibition in the Royal
Scottish Academy in 2016 and the winner
will be selected at the exhibition.

Tapestry contest issued by Atelje 61 in
Petrovaradin, Serbia
For the second timeAtelje 61, a tapestry
workhop, is asking for tapestry designs to be
executed by this workshop. The participants are
asked to adjust their ideas to the visual
language of woven tapestry. The tapestries will
be woven according to the carton of awarded
authors in the technique of weaving on a vertical
loom in materials suggested by the authors. There
are two prizes to the amount of each
1000 Euro. The tapestries will be part
of the tapestry collection of Atelje 61. The
tapestry design is for tapestries with a maximum
of 6 square meters, not previously
published.

for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra
Awards is Europes most prestigious prize in
the heritage field. It recognises the
excellenceand dedication by architects,
craftsmen, cultural heritage experts, volunteers,

The awards are given to the most outstanding
achievements in conservation, research, dedicated
service, and education, training and
awareness-raising.
In 2016, up to 30 heritage projects and

challenges, its relationship to time and space.
Integrating Brazilian fashion into a larger
narrative on global trends, this volume will
prioritize essays that detail history and analyze
design creation and consumption, cultural

culture, and projections for the future.

Kurpfälzisches Museum is holding the 6th
European Quilt Triennial, expected to be shown
in Heidelberg from 13 September
2015 to 10 January 2016 and subsequently at
Kreismuseum Zons in Germany,
Textilmuseum St. Gallen in Switzerland,
and at the prestigious Festival of
Quilts in Birmingham/UK in August 2016.
Plans for further exhibitions in Germany and
other countries are currently under
discussion.
Participants must be resident in Europe. The
work must have a minimum size of 1 m²
and max. 4 m², and not have been shown in
public before autumn 2015. Garments are not
accepted. Prizes of Euro 7,000 in total

conference Fashion Thinking wishes to
mark this development with an international
conference that explores and challenges the
theory, history and practice of Fashion Thinking
in it widest sense as paradigms of critical
thought and creative practice. Fashion is here
understood both as material objects and the

Textile Society of America established
The R.L. Shep Ethnic Textiles Book Award,
through a generous donation from R.L.
Shep. This prestigious award, presented yearly,
recognizes a book on ethnographic textiles for
its outstanding scholarship and communication
about textiles.
This years award winner is an example of
the rich dialogue and original insights that can
occur when textile scholars collaborate across
cultures and disciplines.
Berkeley, CAEditors of Chinese
Silks, Feng Zhao and Dieter Kuhn, have
been awarded the R.L Shep Ethnic Textiles Book
Award for 2012.
With contributions from seven authors,
Chinese Silks is part of The Culture and
Civilization of China series published in both
English and Chinese by the Yale University Press
and China International Publishing Group.

festival, scheduled with a 4-day programme, aims
at expressing the importance of textiles in its
diversity. The festival will help safeguarding

The Textile
Society of America is pleased to solicit
nominations for the R. L. Shep Ethnic Textile
Book Award for books published in 2011. Given
annually, the award is meant to encourage the
study and understanding of ethnic textile
traditions by recognizing exceptional scholarship
in the field. The award consists of a cash
prize, funded by an endowment established by R.
L. Shep in 2000. The Textile Society of America
administers the endowment through an independent
committee appointed by the Board of Directors.
Current TSA Board members are ineligible to
apply.
Nominations are open to English-language books
(including bilingual publications in which all
essential information appears in English). For
the purpose of the award, "ethnic"
textiles are defined as the non-industrial
textiles of Asia, Africa, Oceania, and Native and
Latin America, as well as those in identifiable
cultural groups in Europe and North America.
Books of a variety of formats,including
monographs, anthologies, and exhibition catalogs
may be nominated. "Original,
scholarlyresearch that is clearly communicated is
the principal criteria for the prize-winning
book. Author-nominated works are welcome.
