8th international Triennial of Miniature Textile Art

"Jardins réduits"

10 December 2005 until 14 May 2006

This is the fifth presentation of the results of this competition (8 editions in total) to be shown at the Musée Jean Lurcat, Angers. The triennial theme, "Jardins réduits" relates to the writer Gilbert Lascault, and should perhaps be freely translated as "Transformed Gardens".

Applications were received by 585 artists from all over the world. Seventy pieces were selected for the exhibition, most of them from Europe followed by Japan, the USA, Latin America and Australia. They included work by well-known and less well-known artists, both from the older and the younger generation.

This year the museum staged a parallel exhibition of 30 small format Japanese works selected by Hiroko Watanabe.

A catalogue on both exhibitions (134 pages, 100 colour illustrations) is available at the museum.
