To commemorate the 60th anniversary of ICOM, the Secretariat and AVICOM international committee are launching a
contest for the production of a captivating video clip
that encapsulates ICOM's mission, values, and activities.The video clip is to be no longer than two minutes and may make use of several visual and sound techniques.

The winning submission will receive a variety of accolades and international exposure.
Details and contest regulations can be found on the ICOM and AVICOM Web sites

The contest closes May 10, 2006, so don't delay!

Study Trip

  • The Textile Museum Washington plans a trip to Finland, Sweden and Tallinn (Estland)

    Batik artist and ETN member Rita Trefois from Belgium will lead a tour to China in September 2006. This tour will concentrate on Guizhou province but will also visit Beijing, the capital of China and Guiliu, famed for the Li River. The emphasis will be on visiting the villages of the Miao and Dong ethnic minorities and studying their festival costumes.

  • 4th MAK Academy at Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna, October 2005 until March 2006.

ETN member Patrice Hugues, together with Régis Debray a French author and philosoph and Patrick Bazin, conservator at the Library of Lyon, has published the book Culturel du Tissu“ – This publication was presented to the public on „Dictionaire 21 Sept. 2005 at the Paris fabric fair Première Vision. The event is mentioned on the website under
„Presse“ and can be purchased from the author, The book comprises textile-cultural contribution from A to Z of alltogether 55 French authors and is available via bookshops at Euro 35.
