I N F O R M A T I O N (see also section information)


  • The CIETA Website  http://www.cieta-textiles.org/  has been active since December 2006. It offers a general presentation of CIETA and practical information on its activities, publications and technical courses.
  • The Buckinghamshire County Museum publishes a monthly e-newsletter which gives details of new exhibitions and events. If you would like to receive thei e-newsletter please send your name, postal address and e-mail address to amacculloch@buckscc.gov.uk
  • In Canada there is since 2005 an Online Newspaper: „Fibre Quarterly“. Editor is the performer, painter and textile designer Joe Lewis. It appears 3 times per year. There is a public part and a part for subscribers: http://www.velvethighway.com

Travel grant for ICOM Members:

We have learned from ICOM Secretariat of a new program which will make available travel grants for members. The program is part of the ICOM 2008-2010 Strategic Plan to provide "Support for Young ICOM members' participation in International Committee/Regional Alliance meetings." The maximum award for each application will be €2000.

ICOM Costume Committee may send applications for 2 young members, applicants must be: 
           40 years of age or under, see also:

Others are encouraged to consider applying as well:
- retired members, who may also have financial considerations
- members of museums, which do not have the resources to support their working members’participation in the annual meetings.

If you plan to apply for travel funds for the meeting in Chile, October 2008, contact Vicki Berger
v.berger@cox.net and Katia Johansen kj@dkks.dk immediately. The complete application will be due to Vicki and Katia on Monday, February 11. They will circulate the application to the Costume Committee Bpoard, add its letter of support and forward the two complete appliations to the Secretariat on Friday, February 15.
