From 18 to 20
November 2010,
an international colloquium will be held at Château de
Prangins.
Organised by the Swiss National Museum – Château
de Prangins in association with the Department
of Art History at the University of Lausanne,
the conference will examine the issues involved in
studying and preserving wallpaper in situ. How can we
give wallpapers still in their original locations a
“voice” ?
What can we learn from studying wallpaper in situ ? What
are the difficulties faced by historians, art historians,
conservators of historic monuments and other researchers
when dealing with papered walls ? These are just some of
the questions that the conference aims to address.
This
conference has been organised in conjunction with the
exhibition “From wall to wallpaper – The Swiss
National Museum Collections” which runs until 1 May
2011.
